When it comes to British Humor, can anyone top Mr Bean?
Yes, many can. Mr Bean is funny, but really just well known. Mr Bean is a bit overdone to ensure kids get the jokes, and to make it appeal to an American audience, most British comedy is more subtle. It's good, but certainly not the best.

Rowan Atkinson himself (actor of Mr Bean) prefers his series "Blackadder". It's even funnier than Mr Bean, but inappropriate for kids.

The character of Mr Bean is obviously inspired by Brother Dominic, acted by Derek Nimmo in the older comedies "Oh Brother" and "Oh Father", which parody the Catholic church, and a similar character he played in "All Gas and Gaiters", which parodies the Anglicans. Brother Dominic is a well-meaning bumbling fool just like Mr Bean, and the inspiration is very obvious.

Check out "Yes Minister" and "Yes Prime Minister". These are not only hilarious but actually quite insightful, following the inner workings of a parliament.

Dad's Army is excellent. Fawlty Towers is gold. Monty Python of course if you don't mind dirty jokes. Only Fools and Horses. The Last of the Summer Wine. The two Ronnies...

That should keep you busy for a while. Once you've watched all of that get back to us for more!

Wow! You just listed off a ton of shows that we used to watch on the regular! Good list!!!

We all forgot the subtle genius that is Benny Hill! You can’t talk about subtle British humor without talking about that understated giant.
